Plot The Hungry One starts off harmlessly enough. A young scientist conducts experiments to study the virtual environment and artificial intelligence, but at some point everything goes wrong. When the protagonist starts another experiment, he realizes that the computer universe has changed – and not for the better. To figure out the reasons for the incident, the hero sends his computer copy on a journey, but meets two creatures. A lonely little girl and a scary red-eyed monster resembling a werewolf.

The graphic component of The Hungry One is intentionally stylized as old games from the 80s or 90s. The protagonist has 3 parameters that affect the virtual man's ability to act. It is better to monitor these characteristics, since their depletion threatens the hero with defeat and death. For example, a satiety indicator that has fallen to the limit means starvation, and depletion of the sanity scale means madness.

The monster that pursues the gamer is the main danger of the game. If the user encounters it, the character will die and the game will have to be started over. To find out the reason for the experiment's failure, the main character must search all the hiding places and cracks of the virtual space. The plot is branched and has several endings. Because of this, any decisions are important – the wrong choice can lead to an unhappy ending.
