The Stanley Parable is a walking simulator based on the Source engine, focused on narrative. There are no battles, no enemies, not even inventory or the ability to pick up items. Occasionally the environment becomes a simple puzzle. Sometimes they also allow a rather limited semblance of platforming, but this is where the gameplay possibilities end. All that remains is the ability of the player himself to choose, and the narrative and gameplay are built around it.

The main character of the Stanley Parable is an office worker of the same name, who has meticulously and unquestioningly followed the instructions of his superiors all his life. He pressed keys on his keyboard and did not leave his office during working hours. In general, I did not go beyond the limits. One day, however, he has to go on a little adventure, because the office workers have disappeared without a trace. Guided by the voice-over Narrator, the protagonist reaches the room with the secret conspiracy control terminal and saves everything, becoming a hero.

This is how the passage will end if Stanley listens to the Narrator. However, as soon as you move away from the intended story, the plot begins to change. Events will be built around hastily, and immersion will be seriously undermined. If you go even further and find the strangest ways to “break” the passage, the narrative will change beyond recognition. The voice-over will beg the player himself to “get back on track,” breaking the fourth wall, and the world around will become covered in glitches and begin to crumble. There are dozens of endings in the game, and perhaps no one has even found some yet.
