Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is divided into 18 episodes with different types of locations that influence the way the mission is completed. On a snowy map, gamers will be able to create a ladder to climb up, and a biome with a waterfall will allow them to build an ice platform. There are several ways to complete the game: single, cooperative, and the ability to simultaneously control several heroes. The latter mode will not appeal to all gamers, since it allows you to ignore the puzzles and make your way forward easier.

• Zoya. A thief wielding a bow. She also has a rope in her inventory. A rope can be used instead of a bridge over an abyss or attached to rings and thus moved.
• Pontius. The knight knows how to create a protective field that increases his level of resistance. Thanks to this, he copes with obstacles and enemies faster.
• Amadeus. Sorcerer. He is of little use in a fight, but he can create spheres and different types of blocks.

There are two ways to upgrade avatars: using gems and skill points. In the first case, the user cannot choose which skill to upgrade, but in the second case, the user will be able to select skills independently. However, not all skills can be obtained by completing levels: some are acquired by finding vessels with elixir in locations. All the enemies the heroes encounter are created by the prince's nightmares. You will have to fight with arrows, spiders, wolves and other monsters, fighting both in close and ranged combat. There are also bosses. To deal with them, you will have to study their attacks and change your fighting style accordingly.
