A multiplayer mode has appeared, where participants can take control of aliens or the XCOM group.

The reworking of the classic X-COM: UFO Defense includes visual changes and improved gameplay. Most options have been modernized, and units have received more capabilities. The gameplay of UFO: the two sides has improved balance, helping to use previously weak characters or equipment in new ways. The gamer is able to create additional hotkeys for quick interaction with individual soldiers during tactical operations.

Intercepting alien saucers has received a new interface, has become more informative and easier to use. In the Geoscape menu installed at each base, you can see the production and research time, as well as the availability of Ellerium-115 resources. Squadrons can be used to capture UFOs, and also combine them into one group with one key. The game features a standard turn-based process and tactical elements with an isometric view.
