Vigil: The Longest Night takes you to the fortified city of May, who is trying to defend herself from various monsters roaming around. Gamers will take on the role of Layla, an extremely capable warrior who returns to May after some time to see her sister Daisy. At the end of the prologue, the main goal is to find a cure for the unknown and dangerous plague that has affected the population. Finding the root of the problem will take Layla into dangerous areas throughout the city, which, of course, are dominated by all sorts of monsters.

Vigil: The Longest Night includes search quests and extermination of enemies. Exploration is key to progression, and it can be difficult in the early stages as players can jump to any part of the map from the very first steps after finishing the prologue. Of course, the map is full of all kinds of creepy monsters. Their variety is great, and the main character will constantly have to deal with different entities depending on where she is.

Battles with powerful bosses are difficult due to the range of their movements, as well as the change in phases as their energy drops. In total, there are 4 classes of weapons: swords of several types, bows and arrows, and weapons that can be both a spear and an ax. Each class has its own skill tree that improves equipment.

While there is also a stamina factor involved, players will rarely feel the need to pay special attention to managing it as the game provides a fair amount of it. The fighting style requires the correct reflexes in moments that make the character invulnerable for a split second. There is also magic here, with which you can resist a variety of enemies.
