Kinetic novel Vision of Aurora Borealis tells the players the story of two characters – Chris and Gryla. Chris is an ordinary young man, a photographer who came to Iceland to capture the northern lights. The protagonist is depressed because he has difficulty taking quality photos, but in the cold Scandinavian country, Chris finds something different. Gryla is a mystical and unusual girl, similar to fairy elves and fairies. She turns the protagonist's usual world upside down, changing his life from the ground up.

The plot of Vision of Aurora Borealis is relatively short – the game takes from 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Unlike visual novels, the player's choices and decisions affect only minor events, while the main plot is linear. To enhance the user's immersion in the atmosphere of magical Scandinavia, the project uses backgrounds based on real landscapes. The soundtrack is also represented by soft music performed on the piano. Grila's appearance is made in the traditional anime style.

The gameplay of the project is simple. The user communicates with a new friend, travels with her to different places in Iceland and gradually learns new details from Gryla's past. The longer the protagonist is in the girl's presence, the more his personality changes. By the end, Chris becomes almost a different person, determined to start all over again.
