West of Loathing is a comedy RPG that takes you to an alternative version of the Wild West. In the crazy setting of the game, the magic of beans exists, shops pay in steaks, and humanity barely survived the invasion of aggressive cows. The journey of the protagonist or heroine begins with a strange dream. In it, the protagonist chooses a class for himself and goes to the West to seek his destiny. Upon waking up, the character immediately repeats what he saw in his dreams.

There are only 3 classes of hatred in the West:

• Beating cows. A melee fighter dependent on muscularity.
• Bean Wizard. Uses strange food magic for battles, subject to the mystical characteristic.
• Snake oil merchant. Wields firearms and relies on audacity.

As you can easily guess from the archetypes and characteristics, there is nothing serious in the game. The plot, NPCs, dialogue, side quests and even items – everything is based on ridicule, parody and low humor. The visual style also works for this. All graphics are made in the form of a cartoonish black and white pencil drawing.

Gameplay-wise, the game is like a loose interpretation of a JRPG. The protagonist travels through two-dimensional locations, conducts dialogues, solves puzzles and completes quests. From time to time you can accidentally or intentionally run into a battle. It takes place step by step. As a reward, the hero receives experience for leveling up, equipment and consumable items. In addition, as you progress, it will be possible to take partners into the group.
