White echo tells the story of the Englishman Jonathan Brown, who lived for many years in Imperial Russia. For 14 years the hero worked at the royal court, but everything changed when the Civil War began in the country in 1918. Not wanting to be killed by one of the warring parties, the protagonist decides to return to England – to his native London. For five years the hero worked and lived quietly, until monstrous murders began to occur in the city. Jonathan is obliged to investigate the murders especially after he learns that the crimes are somehow connected to Russia.

The gameplay is classic for short stories with elections. The player is transferred from one location to another, where he will have to take part in dialogues without stopping. From time to time, scenes just appear, for example, with a crime scene. In such situations, the protagonist is only obliged to carefully remember everything that is on the screen, because what he sees can give a hint in the dialogues when choosing the right option.

As expected, White Echo has several endings – which one the user gets depends only on him. In some dialogues, Jonathan will be offered several choices – each of them triggers further developments. Consequently, the entire tone of the story and success in unraveling the mystery of the monstrous events depend on the decisions. The more ingenuity and attentiveness a gamer shows, the greater the likelihood of a happy ending.
