World Gone Sour is a platformer. It has three-dimensional graphics, but during the gameplay itself the camera is always located on the side. Initially, the title was made as part of an advertising campaign to promote a brand of sweet and sour chewing candies. The main character is a humanoid candy sprinkled with sugar. The protagonist was in the package along with other candies. But the pack accidentally tore, and the client who bought it tripped. And the character ended up falling into the trash can. As a result, he ended up in the human world. Now he is trying to survive and not be eaten. In addition to the single player mode, the game features local co-op for two.

World Gone Sour has 13 large levels. All of them are made in different settings. At the end of each stage you need to fight a boss. As you move through the locations, other candy men join the hero. These followers must be sacrificed to destroy enemies, solve puzzles, and overcome obstacles. You can also throw them to pick up needed items that are not easy to get to. If you collect enough allies, they will merge with the protagonist and strengthen him, as well as increase his health bar. In enhanced form, you can carry out charged attacks and break barriers. Stars and marmalade are scattered throughout the maps. These are collectibles. You can collect them if you wish. Extra lives and points are given as a reward.
