World in Conflict: Soviet Assault is a large-scale addition to the original game that introduces the USSR quest line and alternative historical events. In this world, the Third World War began much earlier than anyone could have imagined. The world had just gotten back on its feet and began to restore the economy when another blow, this time from the Union, devastated the world.

The events take place in 1989. Soviet troops penetrate the US fortifications, which are located near the Berlin Wall on its Western side. Their main task is to mine the air defense system in order to disable it at the right moment. The squad successfully copes with the task and in the morning all hell breaks loose. The Union destroys the dividing fortification and immediately goes on the offensive and fires missiles. The Americans' anti-aircraft equipment explodes and is no longer operational, allowing the Russian army to quickly break through. Having defeated the enemy, war was officially declared on the Federal Republic of Germany, which became the catalyst for the start of the Third World War and new bloody battles for world domination.

The main battles will take place on them, and it will be necessary to focus primarily on them. The main task of the user is to lead the troops to victory by drawing up cunning tactics and a well-thought-out strategy. He will have a limited amount of resources at his disposal without the possibility of replenishment.
