World of Warplanes is a hybrid of an arcade flight simulator and an MMO. The main emphasis is on team battles. There is a training system for beginners. You can fly on Japanese, Russian, German, American, Chinese, British and French aircraft. There are 250 of them in the game. They are divided into 5 classes: attack aircraft, bombers and three types of fighters. Equipment from different eras is presented – from biplanes to jet ships. Air battles take place on 40 maps. The locations are based on real-life places.

There are 4 modes available in World of Warplanes:

• War of attrition – each side tries to deprive its rivals of resources;
• Conquest – users fight among themselves and against bots at the same time;
• Invasion – the first team tries to recapture the territory, and the second defends it;
• Escort – one group of users helps the bombers reach the target, and the second tries to stop them.

Fights are divided into two types. Standard battles allow you to earn experience and money for destroying enemy equipment or causing damage to it. And training matches exist so that users can test their aircraft and practice their skills. Nothing is given as a reward for participating in such battles, and the results are not recorded in statistics. Exp is needed to gain access to new aircraft and improvements for them. It also allows you to upgrade your crew to increase the effectiveness of your combat unit. And the currency is spent on the purchase of aircraft, modules with upgrades, and repairs. You can replace weapons, engines, various equipment and equipment.
