World War Z: Aftermath is an improved version of the game. This is not a new part, not a remake or a remaster, but something like a re-release. This release differs from the expanded edition of GOTY in a number of innovations. The variety of maps increased due to the appearance of the Vatican, Kamchatka and Rome. The graphics have been slightly improved by adding support for 60 fps and 4K. The developers also added a new mode with an increased number of monsters – Horde Mode XL. In addition, the video game has the ability to switch between first- and third-person views. It also introduced full-fledged melee combat.

World War Z: Aftermath is a co-op shooter with leveling up. It is based on the book “World War Z” and the Hollywood film adaptation of the same name. The title stands out for its huge number of enemies on one screen. A special artificial intelligence is responsible for their behavior. Local opponents know how to interact with each other and build pyramids from their bodies, as was shown in the film. In addition to standard zombies, there are large monsters with different abilities: Ram, Screamer, Catcher, Bomber, Infestation, Toxic.

There are 8 character classes available in the re-release:

• Defender – a new hero armed with an electrical shield;
• Drone operator – support who uses drones;
• Shooter – a fighter who loves firearms;
• The Technician is a ranged combat specialist capable of replenishing ammunition for his partners;
• Medic – knows how to heal and raise fallen comrades;
• Demoman – specializes in the use of explosives and shotguns;
• Fighter – has good command of machine guns and effectively uses defensive fortifications;
• Executioner – can destroy any ordinary undead with one blow.
