X-note is a visual novel that tells the story of a girl, Essie, who has psychic skills. The heroine had a difficult childhood. When the protagonist was little, her mother died in an accident, the cause of which law enforcement officials could not name. The only thing left of the mother is a flash drive with locked contents. A few years after the death of a loved one, Essie recovered and began to enjoy life.

Suddenly, a young man, Yuon, appears on the horizon and turns to the girl for help in investigating a case of disappearance and murder at the famous Zen school. Both incidents are fraught with multiple inconsistencies. This request greatly interested the main character, because it was here that her mother worked until her death. The protagonist decides to take part in the investigation and try to finally bypass the protection of the flash drive and see its contents, which have haunted her for many years.

In addition to the classic dialogues for the genre, which form the basis of the X-note gameplay, the player is also required to collect evidence and write in his diary. Also, having psychic skills, Essie is able to use them to get to the truth, inaccessible even to an experienced detective. The developers have provided about 10 different endings. The user can end up with any of them – it all depends on the decisions made along the way.
