Ys Eternal is a remake of the very first part of the series. The original was released by the Japanese on their local computers in the 80s and on consoles of those years. Since then, the title has been frequently re-released and ported to many places. As a result, it reached PC users. This port has improved sound, new soundtrack arrangements, improved visuals and the ability to save at almost any time. The graphics are stylized to resemble anime. The story follows the adventures of Adol Christin. The young man was in a shipwreck, after which he was thrown ashore. Residents of one of the settlements helped him recover. In gratitude for the rescue, the guy decided to help them deal with evil forces. The plot is completely linear. In addition to the main quests, there are several side quests.

Outwardly, Ys Eternal is similar to classic JRPGs. However, this is a Japanese action RPG. Moving around the world and fighting monsters take place in real time. At the same time, fights with some opponents can be avoided if you run around them. The game has a non-standard combat system. The protagonist automatically attacks enemies when touching them. The player is only allowed to run in different directions and ram the adversaries from different sides, finding their weak spots. If he attacks from the wrong angle, he will take damage himself. The gamer can also use items. For killing monsters they give experience and money. As the adventurer's level increases, the scale of health, attack and defense increases. Currency is spent on purchasing armor, shields, swords, and consumables. The rest of the loot, including rings, can be found in locations.
