Zompiercer is a linear first-person survival game set during a zombie apocalypse, where many mutated zombies roam the lands in search of their next victim. Here players will have to travel by train. This is one of the most important features that sets this game apart from others in this genre, as this vehicle is not only the only means of transportation, but also the home and base of gamers.

In the plot of Zompiercer, the main character wakes up to the blaring sound of sirens warning of zombies infiltrating the base. As is often the case, he finds himself alone, with no idea what went wrong, and so sets out on his own on his train to find other survivors. The gameplay offers a survival experience with some emphasis on storytelling and linear gameplay.

There are 4 different locations here, which will be played in order. How to pass them depends entirely on the actions of the player. If you see a train station in the distance, you can go and check it out first, or, if you prefer, go in a completely different direction and explore a nearby town. It is extremely important to gather enough supplies for the journey, be it food, water or materials to create new tools.

Gamers have access to hunger, thirst, sleep, stamina and visibility indicators, and can only carry a limited amount of weight, which can be increased by wearing a backpack. The player can use melee and ranged weapons, such as pistols or shotguns. By killing different types of walking dead, such as the usual slow ones, faster and deadlier ones, or even armored ones that are especially difficult to defeat with melee weapons, players gain experience and improve their level.
