Zoria: Age of Shattering Prologue tells about events preceding the main story. So, this shows the period after the gamer took responsibility for the Outpost and began recruiting his own followers. A special feature of the project is the competent combination of role-playing elements and tactics, when it is necessary to correctly distribute forces on the battlefield to achieve the desired result. At the same time, the gamer has no restrictions or a clear plan of action – all areas are available on the global map, and you can independently choose the direction of movement and formulate the current task.

The role-playing component in Zoria: Age of Shattering Prologue is accompanied by the usual details: the accrual of experience points, the presence of basic characteristics such as intelligence, endurance, stamina, etc., as well as so-called resistances (for poisons, light, fire, etc.). Depending on how the user wants to distribute the pumping points received, each parameter can be increased. A separate segment contains equipment and all items from the inventory. Some of them (potions, healing drugs, etc.) can be used directly during battle so as not to lose health. When the character has travel companions, it will be easier to explore new places, because each member of the group can receive instructions on where to go and what part of the territory to inspect. If the area is cleared, you can set up camp, setting a rest time in advance. There you can evaluate the available food supplies and understand how they should be spent in the future.

In a battle, the outcome depends on two key indicators – the characteristics of the characters and tactical flexibility. Depending on how the player is able to take advantage of the existing skills of his subordinates, each situation will play out differently. For example, if a warrior has a powerful area attack, he can inflict a significant amount of damage on all enemies, and then take a defensive position. The same applies to those who specialize in close combat – a few successful attacks followed by a retreat to defense will allow you to greatly batter your opponents, minimizing losses on your side.
